PAACH Homeschool Convention
Mark your calendars for the 2025 PAACH Homeschool Convention, coming this April, to Cornerstone Baptist Church in Groveland. The convention will kick off with a free “New to Homeschooling” night on Thursday, April 10th. The paid portion of the convention will then take place all day on Friday and Saturday, April 11th & 12th. This year’s keynote speakers will include Andrew Pudewa, Steve Demme, and Will Estrada. Deeper Still Retreat
The spring retreat by Deeper Still Ministries & Living Alternatives seeks to help those left with wounded hearts from abortion to find healing and freedom. The 3-day retreat is intended to provide you with a safe and confidential environment in which God’s presence can be encountered in the warm company of a small group of supportive women and men. Easter Egg Hunt
New Pointe Church in Pekin will host a free Easter Egg Hunt on April 19th from 2-3:30pm. The egg hunts will be for children ages 0-10 with hunts happening every 30 minutes. Midwest Food Bank Volunteer Fair
Midwest Food Bank in Normal is seeking volunteers to support their growing efforts in addressing food insecurity. Since its founding 21 years ago, the organization now serves over 460 agencies, with a 30% increase in food distribution from 2023 to 2024. To meet the rising demand, they need more volunteers to help distribute over 1.8 million pounds of food each month. Those interested in volunteering can attend the Volunteer Fair on April 22nd from 10am-1pm to tour the facility, talk with current volunteers, and purchase lunch from a food truck. Night in a Car
Did you know that a hidden aspect of homelessness that many in our community experience is living in their cars? Imagine your only shelter was your car. How would you survive? Home Sweet Home Ministries challenges you to find out during their annual “Night in a Car” on Friday, February 7th. They are encouraging individuals, families, youth groups, and more to participate in this unique homelessness simulation. Participants will “live” out of their cars during the overnight hours from 7pm to 7am. You have the option to drive-in and join others at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington or you can choose to zoom-in and join online from the convenience of your own driveway. State of Homeschooling Address - Threats to Homeschooling
The Peoria Area Association of Christian Homeschoolers is hosting a live stream of a “State of the Union” address from the Home School Legal Defense Association. The address will address a legislative proposal called “Make Homeschool Safe Act.” The proposal opens the door to government regulation in home education.
There is no cost to watch, and the presentation will NOT be available to view afterward.
There will be a follow up Q & A time with ICHE Executive Director Kirk Smith on Wednesday, November 20 at the same time. This will not be recorded either.
